Does anyone have any experience with chufa? We had a 1/2 acre food plot timbered right after the season but with all the rain we experienced in june it still is not totally dry. My question is it too late to plant the chufa or if it is not fully grown will it keep growing after the winter thaw in the spring or will the frost destroy it?

I'm not any expert on chufa but it is basically a weed so it shoudn't be to late I wouldn't think! Maybe you can do a search on it and find out how long it takes to germinate.

I read you need at least 90 days before the 1st frost but it never said what will happen if it is not within 90 days. Not sure if the crop will be destroyed or survive the winter and be effective in the spring. If the nut of the plant is not developed there will be no reason for the turkeys to be attracted to it.

I think if you got it down now you should be fine with the 90 days frost thing.
