I have never shot a long beard with a bow, so i dont know. What happens when you shoot one and it actually flies off? is there a preventative measure for this or what? thanks Biggunwill

Im not really sure if there is any way to really prevent that kind of thing from happening. the last turkey i shot with my bow, which was a pretty good tom, a 19 pounder with a 9 inch beard, which by the way, is a pretty big bird for NYS, it flew off for about 30 yards and then hit the ground. just put the best shot you can on them. sometimes you get em, sometimes you don't. turkies are a tough bird. don't be surprised to see em keep going after you put a broad head through their chest.
