I went out last Sunday evening to see if I could put to bed some Gobblers. I heard nothing except low sounding flips of wings. I was hoping they were turkeys.
Monday morning I got up had my coffee and a lite breakfast, lite in case the hunt turn into gun and chase
Just as soon as it started to get day light, the gobbleing began. I have never heard that many gobblers at one time in my life. so I began to lay down my stuff! soft tree clucks and purrs, not many though. when I did there was great response coming from the Gobblers.
as soon as it was daylight enough I gave a fly down with my wing. [Great response] waited and did it for the second time. hoping the Gobblers would think there were more than just one .
done me some contented clucks and purrs and a few other inviting calls. [great response]
I had turkeys in front of me down hill, and to my right.
they were gobbleing great. so I would give them what they wanted to hear.
the Gobblers down hill seem to be in one spot all the time, not moving or coming my way.
the Gobblers to my right was coming!!!!!!!!!
it was 45min. before they were near me.
I forgot my mouth call All I was using was my wing, and the new glass on glass that Jason Dails made for me.[was sounding good]
they were getting to close to be moving around now. so I gave a few more contended purrs, and whines, and got my gun ready!
Here he came I could see him real good now. I could hear him spitting and drumming all the way in.
there was two other gobblers with him, that was great to watch, because as soon as the dominate one saw my decoys.they began to run to them. [ one hen and a Jake] the dominate gobbler run in front of the two other gobblers and went streight to the Jake and hit him with a wing shot.[that was cool ]
as soon as he done that I shot him! they don't hit my decoy and get by with it!
here is a picture of my Gobbler I got this morning.
Oh yes! Thanks Jason, for the great call you made me!
