HERE IS MINE --- I worked A bird in ,. It took 2 hours ,you know what I went through . the bird came in through small trees about 1" around when I saw him he was 10 feet in front of me!!! . I was shooting a 1100 magnum shotgun with full choke 3" copper shot . I shot at the bird ** BANG** the tree 2" to his right FELL DOWN!!!! the bird was on a ridge it ran a few steps & flew ... I STOOD UP and shot at the bird again.. the turkey "FISH TAILED A LITTLE" but kept flying. I could see the bird fly down the hill.. he went to land on a limb 200 yards away .... HE FELL OFF THE LIMB!!!! so away I went when i got there the bird was verry much alive!! [not for long] ** BANG** dead !!! shoot only 3 shots!!! ;D ;D I LOOKEWD AT THE BIRD .#2 shot broke both legs!! thats why he fell !!! THATS my ONLY TURKEY miss!!

happened 2 weeks ago... i called about 9 times then went silent. i heard the bird come off the roost, i was very close, about 40 yards. i thought he went the other way. 5 min later he gobbled 15 yards away and he was comin in fast. i was facing the other way so i tried to turn and he busted me. off he went running. i shot too far behind and couldnt shoot another cause the kick knocked me on my back. that nitro ammo sure does do a number on the shoulder. first turkey i have ever called in and i missed. still thinkin about it. oh well... hes mine next year, i wont miss again ;D

Which time? LOL
THe most recent was last fall.
I had seen a couple birds that morning run over the top of the ridge and down over the other side. I worked all the way around them, no sign. I went in for lunch, and then resumed my search.
Meanwhile, my cousin had worked his way down from his house (2 miles away) and was now coming up over the ridge. So I sat down. He was going out through the cover on the steep of the ridge. The turkeys will often hang out in there.
Well, I am sitting there, and I hear my cousin's 10 gauge crack twice. I sat tight for about 5 minutes. I then start walking out the road on the top. I make it about 100 yards, and I see a bird take off. I get my gun under my shoulder. Then another bird pops out on the road. I pull up and shoot. The bird flys away.
Because of the hurried nature of the shot, I forgot to put my hear down on the stock, which probably resulted in a high miss.

well, i so far have never missed one. But i was hunting with a friend of mine in the fall season and we went to break up a flock of hens, he ended up shooting SIX times!! and he still didn't get one. i had a hen fly over me and i raised my single shot 20 gauge, and took a hen out of the air at about 40 yards... now that was one lucky shot

I was trying to work my way closer to a gobbler that was just going off on the roost and busted a bunch of birds in the process that were still on the limb. I just assumed that they all took off and went maybe 50 yards and setup on the still gobbling bird. I worked that bird in to about 70 yards and he hung up. I tried every trick in the book and he just stayed there and gobbled. As he lost interest and started moving off I was planning my next move to get in front of him. All of a sudden I hear WOOSH WOOSH WOOSH WOOSH and a dang longbeard just about lands in my lap from behind me. He obviously didn't fly off when I spooked the rest of the birds on the way in. As soon as he landed he saw me and started putting, he stepped behind a tree and out the other side at just a few yards away and BOOM!!! He ran about ten yards stopped, looked back and flew off. I was shooting a single shot ten gauge and just choked on that close shot.
