I had the last hunt in Michigan, and on My opening day I had called in 5 jakes, then about an hour later called in a pair of two year olds.....Being a one bird State I decided to pass on the two Year old gobbler...I got 3 1/2 hours in when thunder and lightening sent Me out of the woods....We then started having bad storms continually and was beginning to wonder if I was going to get out again...Some of You knew that I had open heart surgery taking 5 by-passes and luckily I got to hunt turkeys again....Back to the hunt, on the last day of the season 31st of May, sure enough it stormed, but suddenly the rain stopped, the sun come out bright, and My Brother says, lets go turkey hunting....Well lets go ! We hadn't been out 1/2 hour when I got one that wanted to play.....well when He showed there was another with Him.....My Brother and I shot a double, both 9 1/2 inch beards, 1/2 to 5/8 spurs, 19 or 20 lbs... When My Brother left the hospital the day of My surgery, for some reason He didn't think I was going to make it....He is a Fire Chief and a EMT....When We both scored, He jumped up, ran to Me and give Me a big Brother hug and a hi five...He had tears falling down His cheeks.....He said in His prayers for Me asking God to allow Us to hunt turkeys again together...and You know God listened.....
